The fall has been full of travel for pleasure and business, so little time to work on writing projects.
But I did manage to ready my short story collection, The Spinning Mind, for submission to publishers, hopefully for release early next year (P.R.A. Publishing has accepted it for publication!). This volume will include two stories included in The Marginal Ride, the recently published anthology of stories by Canadian authors published by Deux Voiliers Publishing, as well as eleven other stories, some based on dreams I captured after waking. The volume is an exploration of how and why the mind "spins" in the awake and dreaming states to create stories.
I am pleased to report that my friend and fellow poet, Peter Fox Smith read some of my poems at the October RECITE! event in Woodstock VT, along with his own magnificent poems. The link is below, and Peter's reading is the fourth in the lineup (there are some other great poets reading as well, like my good friend Jim Reiman):
I am also happy to mention that I will be doing presentations and readings as follows:
December 12th at 6:00 pm - Kimball Public Library in Randolph VT;
January (TBD) - Conference Room at the offices of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, Four Embarcadero Center 22nd Floor in San Francisco CA.
At both venues, I will be discussing my memoirs with special focus on THE FENCERS (the most recent one), and the impact of those experiences on my life and writing.
More on these events later, but I hope you will put them in your calendar if you are nearby.
I will leave you with a poem from my collection, Sighs and Murmurs, published in April 2018 by P.R.A. Publishing. I use this pem to introduce onre of the short stories in the upcoming collection.
the stark mound:
And in between: a white steed,
gallops among dead trees
toward the horizon.
Aftermath: I wake,
its memory dies.
