TATRANEWS

Hello, my friends: A number of things are happening: 1. Several of the poems from Extinction have been nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize! 2. My entry in the Haiku Foundation's Registry has been updated and includes some of the haiku from Extinction. See: https://www.thehaikufoundation.org/poet-details/?IDclient=2334 3. My memoir, The Fencers has received another 5* review from READERS' FAVORITE. 4. I am doing a book talk entitled The Iron Curtain's Influences on my Life and Books at the Kimball Public Library in Randolph VT on Thursday, December. 12th at 6:00 pm. 5. I will do a similar book talk entitled Three Memoirs - Influences from behind the Iron Curtain on a Harvard Life for the Harvard Club of San Francisco on January 16, 2020, at 6:00 pm in the Conference Room on the 22nd Floor at the offices of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, Four Embarcadero Center, San Francisco, CA 94111. For more information, here is the HCSF link to the talk: http://hcsanfrancisco.clubs.harvard.edu/article.html?aid=1418 6. P.R.A. Publishing has accepted my short story collection, The Spinning Mind, for publication. I am waiting to find out when this new book will be released. I the meantime, I continue to work on my next poetry collection and a new novel. As in some recent past editions, I include a poem, this from Extinction, indeed one of the ones now posted on the updated Haiku Foundation site above.

The Four Seasons

(in Haiku style)

spring

with spring’s ecstasy

I inhale cherry blossoms

when I kiss your skin

summer

the warmth of the sun

radiates from your body

when I embrace you

autumn

autumnal colors

augment the day’s brilliance—

like you, at my side

winter

of a wintry night

I long for your silken touch—

but you are not there

That's it until next month. For my American friends, Happy Thanksgiving! Geza
